Fractal Broccoli

Here is a picture of fractal broccoli. (You can click it to enlarge it.) It is amazing that a mere plant would undertake to arrange itself in such a complex and highly mathematical way.

The common name of this plant is Romanesco Broccoli, but the scientific name is Brassica Oleracea. If you want to know more, you can read an excellent article, by Dr. John Walker, titled Fractal Food: Self-Similarity on the Supermarket Shelf.
